Religion

After a long and proud history, the parishes of St Bernadette’s – Ivanhoe West, Mother of God –  East Ivanhoe and Mary Immaculate – Ivanhoe became a single Parish in 2005, – the Catholic Parish of Ivanhoe. The new parish  comprises of three Churches, one of which, is our local community and where St Bernadette’s Primary School is situated.

At St Bernadette’s we use the Melbourne Religious guidelines to support the delivery of a contemporary RE curriculum that assists children in their faith journey. The program has the flexibility to incorporate the year’s liturgical celebrations, sacraments, and is responsive to events within the parish.   The school also encourages the participation in social justice projects and mission within the broader community.

An integral part to the religious experience for our students is the Sacraments.

In Year 3 the children receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.

In Year 6 the children affirm their Baptismal promise as they receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

‘… true education aims at the formation of the human person.’
